Children’s authors, illustrators, book publishers and marketers, take note: Hachette Book Group/Little Brown and Company Books for Young Readers has launched a brilliant marketing campaign for the November release of Sisters First.

Former first daughters, sisters and bestselling authors Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush wrote the new children’s book. Ramona Kaulitzki illustrated the colorful and visually engaging work.

“A Lovely, Lyrical Ode to the Magic of Sisterhood”

Along with the book cover image showing youthful illustrations of the Bush sisters, promos also show two friends–from diverse backgrounds–holding hands while gazing at each other lovingly. Billed as “a lovely, lyrical ode to the magic of sisterhood,” the advertisement alludes to a larger story connecting girls and women–beyond the personal tale of the Bush sisters.

In the new children’s book, Sisters First, a young girl’s dream is realized when her new sister is born. Eventually, the siblings spend all of their time together: playing and dancing as well as dreaming and laughing. Together, they grow into the best versions of themselves.

Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life

With inspiration from the authors’ #1 New York Times bestseller Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life, the new children’s book is immediately captivating. Apart from political leanings and personal family experiences, these powerful bonds appeal to a universal fascination with these relationships–particularly ones that withstand close examination under the public eye.

The nation has watched the two sisters grow up and emerge as strong young women with their own identities. Withstanding the pressures of scrutiny during their father’s White House years, both sisters have stepped forward to make their own major contributions.

Jenna Bush Hager, who lives in New York, is a co-host of NBC’s Today Show and an editor-at-large for Southern Living magazine. She is the author of the New York Times bestseller Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope, and she coauthored the #1 New York Times bestseller Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life with her twin sister. She also wrote the children’s books Our Great Big Backyard and Read All About It! with her mother, former First Lady Laura Bush.

Barbara Pierce Bush, currently working on a master’s degree at Harvard University, is the board chair and co-founder of Global Health Corps. The organization has mobilized more than 1,000 young leaders who take an innovative approach to solving some of the world’s biggest global health challenges. After coauthoring Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life with her twin sister, the picture book Sisters First is her debut work for children.
